1. Overview

Creole Translator ("the App") is a voice translation app that converts speech between Haitian Creole and English. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

• Audio recordings: When you press the record button, your voice is recorded on-device and immediately sent to the Groq API (api.groq.com) for transcription and translation. Audio is not stored permanently by the App.
• Translation history: Text results of your translations are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.
• Advertising data: The App uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

3. Third-Party Services

The App transmits data to the following third parties:

• Groq, Inc. (api.groq.com) — receives your audio for speech-to-text transcription and text for translation. See Groq's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdMob — displays in-app advertisements. See Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal data with any other parties.

4. Permissions

• RECORD_AUDIO: Required to capture your voice for translation. The microphone is only active while you are holding the record button.
• INTERNET: Required to send audio/text to the Groq translation API and to display ads.
• MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS: Required to manage audio focus during recording and playback.

5. Data Retention

Audio recordings are held in device cache only during active processing and deleted immediately after a translation is complete. Translation history text is stored on your device and can be deleted at any time from within the App. We do not retain any audio or translation data on our servers.

6. Children's Privacy

This App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your Rights

You may clear all locally stored translation history at any time using the "Clear History" function in the App. Since audio is not stored beyond the immediate processing session, there is no additional audio data to request or delete.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
